Inside the Book:
Kaitlin Mayer is on the run from the father of her baby – a vampire who wants her to join him in deadly eternity. Terrified for her young son, she seeks sanctuary with the Hunters Guild. Yet they have their own plans for her son, and her hopes of safety are soon shattered.
When she runs into Matthew Blair, an old nemesis with an agenda of his own, she dares to hope for a new escape. But Matthew is a telepath, and Kaitlin’s past is full of dark secrets she never intended to reveal.
This is my first book by this author, and although I felt as I was a bit lost, since I later found out Kaitlin’s Tale ties into a series, I quickly got involved in the many unexpected twists this story had to offer and didn’t worry so much about catching up, but focused my attention on what Kaitlin’s Tale had to offer.
Kailin’s tale was an interesting take on vampires. And it definitely delves into things that are better suited for a mature audience. But don’t let that deter it from reading it. It’s full of suspense, mystery, and well-developed characters that bring so much to the story without taking away.
I enjoyed how surprising things became from the start. And was amazed by how well the author spun everything together. By the end, I felt as if I hadn’t missed out by not reading the other books in the series. Kaitlin and Matthew became such an essential part of the entire story and I loved them together. Don’t know much about their history before this, but I feel as if it’s only fair that I find out. Like now!
This a story of a mother willing to put herself at risk to save her son’s live. No doubt about it. As a mother myself, I could see myself reflected in Kaitlin.
Overall, I give this book a two-thumbs up!
