The day has finally arrived! The anthology featuring short stories by fellow Inkspell author Stephanie Keyes and myself is now live through all major retailers.
Acclaimed author Kristy Centeno, and Bestselling author of The Star Child series, Stephanie Keyes, bring you two stories that prove love and light can overcome the pain and shadows.
With secrets hidden in the night, and dangerous creatures prowling the woods, trusting the enemy can mean either life or death.
Two dark worlds…One night that will change their lives forever…Where evil lurks, only goodness can prevail.
Excerpt for Shadows:
Before I can form a reply, he moves forward while simultaneously drawing me near. And then, his lips are on mine, all hot and demanding. My heart races in response. A jolt courses through me as he fuses our lips together, desperately trying to prove what we both now know—his touch won’t end my life.
I’m left breathless and confused. Conflicted emotions rush through me while he’s trying to prove his point. This is the man who was sent to kill me. So why is my body betraying me? Why is my heart racing, my blood running wild through my veins? Why am I so consciously aware of his touch, his kiss? It shouldn’t be this way. I can’t think straight. Something’s happening to me, but I don’t understand what.
I can’t remember my past so this is as new to me as learning how to feed myself was a few years back. Am I supposed to like this? I can’t remember ever being kissed before but it must have happened at some point. Did it ever feel this good? I don’t know. I’m startled beyond thinking. All I can do is feel. Enjoy. Marvel at how such a seemingly innocent act can make me forget my own name or who he is and what he represents.
Excerpt for The Boy in the Trees:
“I’m going home.”
“You can’t.” Owen shakes his head. “He’s not going to stop, Jemma. He’ll follow you. He’ll kill anyone who gets in his way. He’ll make you think of nothing but him. Just like Molly.”
My face heats. “How do you know about her?”
“I told you, Jemma. I know things.”
“No. You’re a stranger. You’re probably way more of a threat than he is.”
Owen shakes his head and stalks toward me. Impatient, gray storm clouds build in his eyes, reeling me in. Once again, I find myself unable to turn away. Then he’s close, so close. This guy has no concept of personal space.
“Look. I don’t want to do this, Jemma, but you’re leaving me no alternative.”
Owen leans in, brings his lips to within an inch of mine. Is he going to kiss me? Better yet, do I want him to? Instinctively, I part my lips, his intense eyes holding mine hostage.
He puckers his lips together like a child would. Before I can laugh, he blows a slow stream of air into my mouth. It’s frigid, like frost. I can’t help myself from allowing it in, from drawing Owen in.
And then the darkness comes.
