Book Excerpt:

Dressed and feeling revitalized, Celine rose and leaned over to pick up the gown that had fallen on the floor. She heard a faint knock on the door and, assuming it was Nurse Wanda, she called out for the person to enter. Celine paid no attention when the door opened and closed and the sound of heavy footsteps disturbed the silence inside the room. After placing the gown back on the bed, she turned and immediately froze when she caught sight of the incredibly handsome stranger staring back at her as if he knew her.

Celine’s eyes collided with a set of unfamiliar, green-colored eyes, huge and full of vibrant life. They were also familiar.

This certainly was not Nurse Wanda.

The unbelievably good-looking male standing as still as a statue as he regarded her looked completely intimidating, yet Celine would have paid millions just to stand there and stare at him for the rest of the day. She felt herself blush straight down to her toes, the effects of having his gorgeous eyes scrutinizing her in a way no one else ever had before.

As he stood there and filled his eyes with her, Celine did the same with him, observing his admirable physique, appreciatively regarding every inch of his alluring masculinity. He was tall, perhaps a little over six feet, and had dark blond hair that hung in long, wavy locks down to his shoulders. His skin was lily white, almost translucent looking, making the blue veins on his hands and face visible even from a distance. His lips were full, his nose straight, his cheekbones high, and his jaw square and manly. His body looked bulky in all the right places and lean in the rest.

It took a great deal of effort to stop her jaw from dropping open.

He appraised Celine in much the same manner she had him, and she shifted her weight from one leg to the other, uncomfortable at having his gaze roam all over her.

Who is he? Why is he here?

“It’s nice to see you well,” he said in a deep and sensual voice.

Oh, Lord, where did this handsome devil come from?

“Do I know you?” she asked.

“No, I’m afraid we have not been properly introduced. My name is Keiran McDermott.” He bowed his head slightly as he introduced himself, and Celine thought the gesture a little odd. It was old-fashioned, and he certainly did not look like an out-of-date man.

“Nice to meet you Mr. McDermott.” She eyed him with curiosity, noting how well his jacket embraced those broad shoulders and long arms. “Have we met before?”

He shook his head. “We have not.”

“Then why are you here?” Direct and to the point, she thought. “And how is it that you are familiar with me?” Better she find out what his business here was once and for all.
